Like most citrus essential oils, lemon oil is obtained by pressing the rind of the fruit. It has a fresh aromatic scent that is perfect for diffusing. It also has powerful anti-bacterial properties that make it a useful cleansing agent on kitchen surfaces. It is effective for removing residue from tape, labels, or sticky food remains. We use it during the harvest season, adding it to the cleaning water for our home-grown fruits because it is really effective for killing earwigs. Patricia Davis suggests that it might be useful for corns and wart dissipation if applied in a way to avoid the healthy surrounding skin. The oil is very mood refreshing. Be aware that lemon oil should be used in low dilutions as it can be irritating to the skin. It should not be applied before exposure to sunlight or UV exposure.

I made a cleaning solution with 1 1/2 cups white vinegar, 1/3 cup water, 8 drops lemon Oil put it in a glass spray bottle. Spray your mirrors, windows and use in the kitchen. It works great and smells soooo good.

Lemon oil has many wonderful uses. I simply add a few drops to warm water to wipe down the inside of my cupboards, my fridge and my microwave. It removes any surface spots and leaves an amazingly fresh scent. I have also used a very small amount of this oil, mixed with warm water, to remove stubborn carpet stains from my car. Slush and grease stains come right off, again with a wonderful scent.
